The Bushmaster Adaptive Combat Rifle (ACR) is the production name for an updated version of the Masada Adaptive Combat Weapon System. In late January 2008, Bushmaster entered into a licensing agreement with Magpul whereby Bushmaster would take over production, future development and sales of the Masada.
It is a patent pending self-loading rifle platform designed by Magpul Industries of Erie, Colorado. The rifle was initially developed over a period of four months, completely independent of government funding. The ACR was one of the weapons displayed to U.S. Army officials during an invitation-only Industry Day on November 13, 2008. The goal of the Industry Day was to review current carbine technology prior to writing formal requirements for a future replacement for the M4 Carbine.
Made possible by Chris Costa (Federal Counter-Terrorism Instructor), Richard Fitzpatrick (President & Founder of Magpul), and Mike Mayberry (leads the design team).
It is so versatile that it fires a NATO 5.56mm standard rounds so accurate and can even fire the 7.62mm "terro" rounds!
Perhaps, when special forces operates in a hostile environment without leaving a trace, they are probably using the Masada nowadays.
The Airsoft Replica designed by waterloo.hk and manufactured by A&K
Straight from the box, it clocks at whooping 470fps! breaks a bottle of beer in 1 shot..
It has a stiffer spring than any other OTB AEG available nowadays cased in a version 2 gearbox and using M4 magazines.
Just as the real masada, the trigger guard and handle grip is constructed with the lower receiver. Contoured and coated with dessert color (in this version of FDE). The fire-select switch and mag catch lever is located in the place identical to the M4's (exactly the same on the other side). However, the bolt catch lever is now located below. The trigger is exactly the same as in the M4 too.
The flash hider is a QD type.
Masada's butt is folding. There is a switch in the left side that when pressed, the enter butt will fold. This will enable troops to carry the masada inside the vehicle while in transport and immediately engage at exactly the same firing position when unfolded. Unlike the SCAR AEG, the Masada has no wires exposed when the butt is folded. This is made possible by relocating the battery in the front assembly.
I installed a 3-rail set from magpul, QD sling connectors and a Larue QD forward grip.
I am not comfortable with the rear sight. Thus, I replaced it with magpul MBUS front/rear flipping sights FDE that is made specially for this magpul masada FDE.
If you have a king arms receiver or a KA Troy M7A1, it has the same feature. When the charging handle is cock, the bolt cover will expose the hop. The bolt cover will stay at the middle for you to adjust the hop. Then by pressing the bolt catch lever just below the mag catch lever, the bolt cover plate will release to close the port. And, you can do the release on either side. Wow!
The mag release is working on both sides too. This is so adaptable with left-handed operators.
A quick detach (QD) sling connector on either side at the middle and on the end of the butt.
The butt can be adjusted in 6 positions for more firing comfort. A rubber is placed in the end of the butt.
However, when attached with a bungee sling (when the butt is adjusted on the 1st position) the adjustable butt can't hold the weight and slide down to the 6th position. This is one of the "not so good" about this model.
To remove the front handle cover and install a battery, just as the real masada in changing a barrel, you have to push a pin on the left-side which will come out on the other side.
Slide forward the cover and it is done flawlessly.
It has a fuse and a tamiya mini connector which i hated and immediately replaced with a deans plug. I use the lowest (in rating) in my li-poly battery (1200mAh 12C chicklet-type firefox 3C1P) for this AEG since it is still "virgin" on the inside and not yet shimmed by me. I guess, the motor is fast.. when using the li-poly, the ROF is very fast - as if using a high speed motor with perfect feeding.
Here is the view of the mag well which the ver2 gearbox is seen as well as the transparent hop chamber (in 2-piece) that is currently rare in the replacement parts stores!
The close-up front and rear ends of the Masada ACR
And the full view, complete with magpul rail set, larue QD forward grip, QD sling connectors, and magpul MBUS front/rear FDE sights.
Not too heavy that an angel can shoot you (standing) with it!
And my models... playing in tigerland since last year.. seems trying hard...
This AEG is designed without having the real Masada on hand - it is still under development by Bushmaster until now.
Generally, this AEG worth every petot you will spend for it.
Comparing the Magpul Masada with the FN SCAR is like comparing a Ferrari to a Lamborghini, both are exotic but the there is one that has the edge.. it's the Masada that will sport the racing horse emblem and not the bull.
For the mean time, I have decided not to do the take down and upgrading in order to know which part of the stock parts will give in first.
And of course, SemperFi is very busy for the FAS Central Luzon Leg these days.
Thanks for your time.
SemperFi! Hooaaah!

yung lock ng folding stock sir metal ba? baka easily broken if hard plastic.
matibay naman sir Bart.. it's the kind of plastic, i guess, used in the real steel.. very hard.. parang yung sa Glock na polymer lower receiver - even tougher than materials used recently in SCARS of G&G, CA, and VFC because it's thicker. you can't pinch it..
